What Is BCM?

BCM (Baptist Collegiate Ministries) is a student led Christian organization sponsored by the Virginia Baptist Mission Board. We work hard to provide opportunities for fellowship, growth, leadership, and service for students. Our programs include opportunities for worship, study, spiritual development, leadership, Christian service, and recreation. The BCM Center, or Baptist Student Center, is located on the Longwood campus behind Stubbs dorm. It's a great place to get away from the campus scene without going far. We have a great lounge, perfect for meeting friends, hanging out or studying. We have regular meetings at the BCM center along with special events and activities.

But I'm not Baptist!

So what? The BCM is open to anyone and everyone exploring their faith. We are first and foremost a Christian student organization, and all can participate in our programs, no matter what their background.

I don't have time to join!

We don't have members! We go to BCM activities because we enjoy them. You can participate in as much or as little as you want.

What can I do in BCM?

BCM has a place for everybody to serve and grow. Leadership positions are open to everyone. If you're looking for programs, we offer a wide range of events and activities. We have regular weekly meetings (with a free home cooked meal!) along with special opportunities like conferences and retreats.

If you're looking for a place to serve, options include working in local churches, teaching, drama, music, etc. We also do missions and service projects on campus and in the community, with larger opportunities during school breaks.

Virginia BCMs raise their own money to send student summer missionaries all over the world. Fundraising continues on each campus throughout the year. Summer missions candidates are sent out for a part or all of the summer.
